ONE WEEK TO GO BEFORE THAILAND MAKES AIR RACING HISTORY
In one week, history will be made at the U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport in Thailand when the first-ever race in the sport known for generations as formula one air racing will be held in Asia. The aviation motorsport, making its Asian debut, is presented by Chang and supported by The Sports Authority of Thailand and the Royal Thai Navy.
The Air Race 1 Presented by Chang will be opened to the public on Saturday and Sunday 19-20 November 2016 with many other attractions and entertainment for fans to enjoy.
Next week’s race will not only be a test of pilots from USA, France, Sweden and other nationalities, but it will also be a test of the venue as it prepares itself to host of the World Cup of Air Racing in year 2017. The race is sanctioned by the International Formula One Air Racing Association (IF1) and the formula air racing associations in France and UK, APAF and FARA.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand opened a press conference in Bangkok on Friday to announce the partnership with Air Race 1. A panel of dignitaries also welcomed the event to Thailand, including Mr. Pongpanu Svetarundra, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism & Sports; Mr. Sakol Wannapong, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand; Admiral Phaldej Charoenpool, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy; and Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich, Senior Vice President of Thai Beverage Plc.
