U-Tapao, Thailand 2017

U-Tapao Airport, which lies south east of Bangkok, was the location of the first pylon air race in the history of Asia-Pacific and on 17-19 November will be the first ever World Cup of Air Racing in Asia. U-Tapao is a large Royal Thai Navy Air Base which began life as a US Air Base. The airport is a full-service, high-quality facility for both military and civilian usage and it is expanding its commercial operations as the secondary hub to Bangkok Airport. We were thrilled to be welcomed by the Royal Thai Navy which offered its full support and hospitality for this event.

The region around U-Tapao is a well-known gorgeous tourist destination for Thais and foreigners alike. Many kilometers of sandy beaches and plenty of entertainment and nightlife characterize this tropical paradise, whose main city is Pattaya, just 45 minutes from the airport.

Air Race 1 is proud to have partnered with The Sports Authority of Thailand, our Official Host of the race, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to have made this historic race a new fixture in the full calendar of sports and activities that Thailand offers. One would think there is already enough to do and see in this beautiful exotic country, but Thailand always seeks to surprise and offer more to ensure its position as a top destination of the globe.

Our special thanks and gratitude goes out to our friends at Chang Beer, the Presenting Partner of the Air Race 1 in Thailand. It is Chang’s vision and social conscientiousness that allowed this event to come to life. Chang is a brand that is devoted to its customers and to the community. We also thank our event organization partner, tab Agency , for its immense dedication and skills to deliver the event and make it a success for everyone.
