The Air Race 1 World Cup Presented by Chang, the premier air racing series in the world, has announced that sport and events logistics company, SEL, will be its Official Logistics Partner.
Hosted by the Sports Authority of Thailand, part of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the event will take place at the U-Tapao Naval Airbase from 17–19 November. This is the first time that the World Cup of air racing will be held in Asia.
SEL Logistics will plan and implement the shipment of 18 race aircraft and event equipment by freight from the previous race location in Reno, Nevada, USA to Thailand’s U-Tapao Airport and back home. SEL will lead the process and remain on hand throughout the complicated journey.
The world’s fastest motorsport and most pure air race challenges pilots in a demanding test of skill where eight pilots race head-to-head on a tight oval circuit at speeds of over 450 kilometres per hour just metres above the ground to be the first one to cross the finish line. Under such a high-pressure race environment it is absolutely vital that the aircraft be shipped safely and securely around the world to ensure the integrity of the fine-tuned machines which lives depend on.
Commenting on the partnership, Air Race 1 CEO, Jeff Zaltman, said: “The rigorous demands and sensitive timeline to transport all the aircraft and equipment from Nevada to Thailand is a logistical challenge, so it is reassuring to know that SEL, a dedicated and accomplished logistics solutions provider for sports events, is putting its expertise behind us.”
The Air Race 1 World Cup Presented by Chang will be shown live in Thailand, and later screened in over 100 countries in Europe, Asia and the USA.
